"Hilfe zum Überleben für Nakuru (Kenia) e.V."

Über unseren Verein und wie alles begann

Words from Karin Platzer, founder-member

My friend Liz Schweigler is from Nakuru (Kenya), and she had been living in Germany for some years already. I flew with her to Kenya and we've met people in slums, many Aids orphans and street children. We have seen poverty and misery. The we had the idea of opening an association to help these people. By meetings, exhibitions, flea markets, call of donations, etc. we are trying to gather money for our projects. Our spokesman and local contact is Minister Patrick Thuo, the brother of Liz Schweigler. This is the preservation of a good cooperation and guarantee that the money goes directly to those intended. All the members in the association work without receiving remuneration, administrative costs are not generated. By a continuous contact with Minister Patrick, we are always being informed about the respective application of the donations.
If you would like to help these people too, we would be very grateful. It can be done by a donation or also as a member of the association, naturally.

We thank you for your interest and your donation.

Christian community "O Ministério do Santuário do Senhor" ["The Lord’s Sanctury Ministry"]

The Christian community "The Lord’s Sanctury Ministry" is an ecclesiastic community in Nakuru (Kenya) - located 200 km north from Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. It was founded in 1998 by Kenyan Minister Patrick N. Thuo and gathered in its initial stage about 30 members. So far, it has grown to over 200 members. The ecclesiastic community works mainly next to the poorest of the population in the city of NAKURU, those who have only little or no gains. The target group also includes street children, from which there are currently about 10,000. Not rarely, they are Aids orphans, having no medical assistance and no school or professional education opportunities.

Another characteristic of the target group is the insufficient access or even complete absence of access to public or private mdeical assistance. An analysis of the community's situation resulted in the following conclusion relating to the health care status in the city of Nakuru:
For a number of 800,000 inhabitans, there is available the "Province General Hospital", which in turns is not responsible [only] for the obligatory care in the city of Nakuru, but also serves the entire Rift Valley, with millions of inhabitants.
On one hand, the population assistance is problematic, as there is only one State Hospital in charge of the entire province. Obviously, there is a serious assistance deficit. On the other hand, the access to drugs and medicine is made difficult by private health institutions, as it is impossible to be paid, by many of them.

The ecclesiastic community thanks for the money donations and medicine, which makes possible to perform the project.
